SHERLYN CHOPRA BANNED - OPEN LETTER TO PRINT MEDIA

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRINT JOURNOS IN INDIA

Dear friends,

It is with great pride and a sense of privilege and of course with great humility that I take this opportunity to write to you thus:

For the last two-odd months I have been BLATANTLY PLUGGING (in the words of some of my former colleagues and friends at the venerable and honourable Times of India) Sherlyn Chopra. Some of my stories and articles have been described as "works of fiction" by a couple of detractors. While I do not wish to comment on my "press releases", I want to take this opportunity to bring the following to your notice.

I have been "blatantly plugging" Sherlyn Chopra because I believe in her. She has tremendous potential and given the right opportunity could do wonders. She is knowledgeable, well-read and intelligent. not to forget has a kick-ass figure and is a bundle of dynamite. Unfortunately it's only her bikini pics or controversies that make headlines. Her achievements are shoved under the carpet.

Sherlyn Chopra recently was in Barcelona as the Face of Bollywood. She has been covered by various international television channels and on websites like Hollywood Reporter, Billboard Magazine, Forbes Magazine, Bnet TV, etc.

Sherlyn met up and hobnobbed with the likes of Robert Redford and Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas. She gave away an award to Yahoo Inc for the "Best Infotainment Portal of the Year". Both Redford and Will.i.am were were greatly impressed by her work and congratulated her and even showed keen interest in working with her.

While not all this coverage is easily available online, I am including a few links. Sherlyn's name has been mentioned alongside stalwarts like Robert Redford, Isabella Rossellini and Will.i.am in the international media.

Sherlyn's video Outrageous was played and showcased during the prestigious Global Mobile Awards ceremony. You check this out at www.globalmobileawards.com.

However, it pains me that the Indian media and particularly the entertainment media and print in particular has largely ignored this "achievement". A search on google will show that none of the mainline print publications have covered this event and particularly Sherlyn Chopra.

(While saying so, I also want to thank those who have believed in Sherlyn Chopra and have given her the coverage that was due to her. I don't want to mention names of individuals and publications, and websites but a BIG THANK YOU and GOD BLESS TO THOSE WHO DID IT.)

It is definitely news-worthy that an Indian actress who is working very hard - and let me mention at this stage does not have a Godfather because she is independent and strong-willed and will not succumb to the diktats of our big daddies in the industry - has had her work showcased before the international media at an august gathering of international celebs and business persons. Her work was also appreciated and she was publicly congratulated.

It pains me that the entertainment print media in Mumbai can write about XYZ actress having A or B or C number of shoes in her closet or PQR starlet learning bellydance or run two consecutive articles on a starlet having a long conversation in a disco with Salman Rushdie, (yes Rushdie makes news I agree) but the same publication tells me that Sherlyn Chopra is banned by their editor and that Sherlyn Chopra in Barcelona meeting a Robert Redford or a Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and being congratulated by them is not news worthy. The same editor refuses to even answer my calls in spite of hundreds of attempts. Then I am told that only controversy stories sell, so when I tell them that Sherlyn Chopra was denied a visa by the German consulate in Mumbai for no fault of her own, they tell me again that Sherlyn is "banned".

I would request the editor of this publication (you know whom I am referring to) to kindly write to me in confidence as to why this partiality. I don't understand how editors (who are paid employees at the end of the day) can enforce such "personal bans" on individuals who have been covered by the international media. And if such a ban or prerogative exists, the individual "banned" has a right to know why she or he is "banned".

Another editor tells me that the public do not want to read about Sherlyn Chopra's rendezvous with Robert Redford or Will.i.am but want to read about X, or Y, or Z's shoes and dogs and cats. I must mention that many other editors tell me that Sherlyn Chopra's pics are the most viewed and downloaded online and she is the "Queen of downloads".

Well, who decides what the people want to read? Aren't we giving a few individuals too much power in a democratic system? Aren't we not being fair and transparent to others who may not be so "blessed" so as to be in the good books of certain "people in power"?

One of the first things I was taught as a journalist was not to allow personal prejudices influence my coverage or reportage of a particular incident or subject. What has Sherlyn Chopra done or not done to be "banned". May be she doesn't send "muuaahs" and "love u" SMS messages to some journos or editors? I would really appreciate if my learned and knowledgeable journalist friends would enlighten me.

Or is it because I don't throw booze parties for select journos or don't send out gift vouchers? Or is it that certain journos owe their allegiance to certain film PROs and will not run stories sent out by a rival PRO? At this stage, I must admit that some print journos do not have a few seconds to listen to what I have to say!!!

As Indians, we must take pride in the fact that an Indian actress was honoured in such fashion on an international fora. In my opinion this news does deserve media coverage.

I am enclosing some photographs of Sherlyn Chopra with Robert Redford and Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and I hope you will give ample coverage to Indian achievers who make India proud on global platforms.

Finally, Sherlyn Chopra's good work will go on. She is launching her own NGO to help the under-privileged and unempowered women. She is doing a lot of work on the film front, which I will leave for her to talk about. We will not be cowed down by "bans" by certain prejudiced and partial individuals.

If I have offended anyone by this out-burst or have been unfair to any individual, I pray for forgiveness.

Sincerely,

Flynn Remedios

SHERLYN TO DO HOT KANNADA ITEM NO.

Watch out Tollywood, here comes Bollywood bombshell Sherlyn Chopra

By Flynn Remedios - Futuristic Media Network

Bollywood bombshell and Outrageous bikini babe Sherlyn Chopra is going to set the Kannada and southern film industry on fire. Other established southern sirens had better watch out, for Sherlyn is determined to leave no stone unturned to give them a run for their money. She has bagged two big projects - one an item song and another a lead role in a big budget Tamil film. Sherlyn says she "dares all the other girls in Tollywood to bare all and prove who has the hottest bikini bod."
"I am willing to go nude, if the script and project demands it. I have the most fantastic body and I am proud of it," she said.

"When I do something I give it my hundred per cent. I will do what ever it takes to be the best and make an impression in Tollywood," says a fiery Sherlyn when asked how she would compete with the existing lot. Sherlyn is known for her uncanny ability to look sexy in anything she wears, whether it's a skirt or jeans or her trade mark G-strings. According to reliable sources, Sherlyn Chopra will be seen gyrating to a steaming hot item number in the Kannada movie titled Madehsha starring Shivraj Kumar – son of Dr Raj Kumar. The lead heroine is not yet finalized, but sources said that Sherlyn was the most likely choice for the lead.

Madeshsha is directed by Ravi Srivatsa and is produced by Govardhan Murthy. Sherlyn is expected to shoot the red hot item number in Bangalore during the second or third week of March this year. The item song will be choreographed by Imran Sardhariya and is expected to be one of the most expensive productions ever made in the Kannada film industry. Many other Bollywood actresses including Malaika Arora Khan and Sameera Reddy were approached for this item number, but Sherlyn Chopra won hands down for her Outrageous and wild, devil-may-dare image, curvaceous body and great dancing feet. Sherlyn is a fantastic dancer and could put J Lo, Britney, the Pussy Cat Dolls and even Shakira to shame. Other Tollywood dancers and actresses would be left far behind if Sherlyn decides to shake her booty in Tollywood. In addition to this project, Sherlyn will also be playing the lead role in a Tamil film. She is tightlipped on this project as her director-producer has asked her not to breathe a word about the project. However, a source close to Sherlyn said the project deals with a real life situation and is a 'drama in real life'.

Sherlyn when contacted refused to deny or confirm the news. "My manager istalking to them, we are discussing certain issues, you can ask him if it'sconfirmed or not," was all that the sex bomb would say. "You can confirmthis news with Bollywood Brands who are negotiating on my behalf."

Insiders say that Sherlyn Chopra is being paid Rs 35 lakh for doing the item song. Apparently, the producer-director duo were so keen on having Sherlyn do the item number that they agreed to pay her the outrageous sum, even though other well-known girls in the industry were quoting only half of Sherlyn's price.

Sherlyn Chopra was also chosen for her J Lo like butt. It may be recalled that recently Sherlyn Chopra had undergone plastic surgery to augment and enlarge her derriere and had her butt re-modeled to look exactly like JLo's. Her music video and album Outrageous was showcased to a standing ovation in Barcelona, Spain at the Global Mobile World Awards. Sherlyn is slated to be working on a couple of Hollywood projects as well with Robert Redford and the Black Eyed Peas. She has promised to tell us about these projects very soon.

Sherlyn Chopra's 'Outrageous' gets a standing ovation at Global Mobile Awards ceremony in Spain

By Flynn RemediosFuturistic Media Network

The Queen of Internet downloads and the most downloaded internet babe Sherlyn Chopra bagged her most 'Outrageous' assignment till date – she was selected as the "Face of Bollywood" to represent the marriage of glamour, oomph and spunk with cutting-edge technology at an annual event - the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona.

Sherlyn Chopra was the only Bollywood actress chosen to represent India at the function. Last year Dia Mirza was the Indian representative at the same event.

Sherlyn gave away the award to the head honcho of Yahoo Inc for the “Best Infotainment Portal of the Year.” You can view Sherlyn’s pics at the official Global Mobile Awards website at http://www.globalmobileawards.com/press/gallery.shtml.
Her music video which was played during the Gobal Mobile Awards function, was recieved with a standing ovation from the entire audience and particularly august members like international comedian Graham Norton, Hollywood legend and Sundance Institute Founder, Robert Redford and grammy award winning rapper and hip hop artiste Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.

Film Legend Robert Redford, founder of the Sundance Institute, was one of the attractions at the World Congress.

Speaking to this reporter from Barcelona, Sherlyn said, “I have discussed various projects, which I will share with the media at the opportune time.” However, Sherlyn’s managers said that she had signed five deals with international groups and bands to “work together”. Sherlyn said she will “disclose all” at a Press Conference very soon. Sherlyn had one-on-one meetings with lead rapper of Hip Hop and funk band Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am and Robert Redford of the Sundance Institute

Besides Sherlyn Chopra and her music album, two other brands or projects were chosen: south icon Rajnikant's film Sultan – The Warrior and Race was showcased at the same event by the World's biggest mobile content aggregator Hungama.com. Hungama.com provides mobile content to cellular operators in about 56 countries across the world including all major operators in India.

Sherlyn beat established brands like Bipasha Basu, Mallika Sherawat, and Priyanka Chopra to make it to the "A-list". She attended the conference, celebrity cocktail dinners and other sub events in Barcelona recently.

In Barcelona, Sherlyn hob-nobbed with the cellular and digital world's head honchos like our very own Sunil Mittal, Anil Ambani, Azeem Ghosh and Arun Sarin to name a few. Almost every other cellular brand from India had a presence at Barcelona and so did international brands like Verizon (one of the largest operators in the United States), Singapore Tel, Mobi Tel, Telefonica, etc.

Besides these, every other Media brand worth its name was present at the event as were the CEOs of most Fortune 100 companies.

Not just that, Sherlyn was bestowed with the honour of presenting an award at the grand finale of the event – the Global Mobile Awards ceremony to honour some of the biggest telecom players – which was held in the palace of the King of Spain.

Said Anand Jhinghan, senior vice president-International, Hungama Mobile, "We are delighted to have Sherlyn Chopra's video 'Outrageous' featured at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona. She is amongst two other power brands chosen for the event. Her connect with the youth on the mobile and online medium continues to grow and her brand value on the digital space in increasing leaps and bounds. She is the next big thing on the Bollywood horizon and is one of the most powerful digital brands."

This event is the biggest international gathering of telecom operators, service providers, mobile content aggregators, handset manufacturers, value added resellers and deals worth millions of dollars are expected to be negotiated and cracked at the venue.
